INSPIRATION:
this used minimal shapes and lines to design this piece of furniture, and tried to show the feeling of movement and dynamism by using triangular shapes in accordance with the origami philosophy. In this way, the furniture remains beautiful even without any symmetry in the form. From different views, the lines and angles of the forms are convergent and parallel, and that creates a pyramidal shape. According to the principles of fengshui, the energy accumulated at the tip of the pyramid can visually reduce stress and anxiety and increase calmness in the audience.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
“Arrow” is a luxury tow-seat sofa designed for sitting and lounging. Its pyramidal shape not only makes it beautiful and comfortable, but also can create an optical illusion and make the environment dynamic and exciting. Our priority was to avoid using wood in the furniture. The metal structure is covered with injected foam. The foundations are molded using press method. Special places have been smartly designed on the sofa’s arm for putting a glass and a bottle.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
“Arrow” has a design that allows the user to easily lie down and rest on it. The angled design of the back of the sofa’s arm ergonomically complies with the angle of human’s back and shoulder. The main purpose of designing the sofa in this way was to create a combined feeling of excitement and comfort, and using a leather cover with foam stimulates this feeling.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project will start in Tehran in February 2018 and will end in november 2018 tehran,IRAN.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Stainless steel structure (iron profiles) increases the accuracy and elegance of the design. Also not using any wood in its design can help protect the environment as much as possible. The legs are made of pressed die-cast steel plate of 1.5 mm. The main pyramid on top of the sofa has also been made through casting mold. The special place for the glass and bottle is made of recyclable polycarbonate with a thickness of 1.5 mm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Initially, we started our research on designing the furniture without using wood in order to mitigate the negative environmental impacts. As a result, we worked on the pattern of simultaneously sitting and lounging on the sofa. We sought to design the sofa in a way that gives us the best experience when used. Then we worked on materials that could mix the feelings of comfort and luxury. We wanted our users to have this feeling through the senses of sight and touch, so that they could have a different and joyful sitting experience.

CHALLENGE:
Our challenge in designing the sofa was the wood-free furniture that could create a sense of excitement and dynamism by creating geometric pyramid shapes in accordance with the origami peaceful and confusing feeling; I reached such a form by use of arrows element.
